It’s officially 2019 and we are excited to share with you all the most essential tools to grow your business this year. We have tried hundreds of different strategies and tools so it’s no coincidence that we just so happen to know what tools will bring in the best ROI. Using all of these tools together will surely bring in high yielding results, but even utilizing just a few of them at a time will also prove to be profitable for your business as well.

First things first, lets quickly go over digital marketing and why it is becoming one of the fastest growing forms of marketing today. Digital marketing enables you to reach an enormous audience in a way that is both cost-effective and measurable. It’s clear that in today’s digital world, the first place the average consumer looks for what they want is online. Whatever product or service they are looking for, they will most likely start their search with Google. If you have no online presence at all, you won’t be found, and you can’t compete. Few forms of advertising are as cost-effective as digital marketing. Small businesses frequently try to get as much as possible done on a small budget. Many forms of digital marketing allow you to communicate your brand and reach a wide target audience even when your budget is very tight.
<div>Compared to advertising on TV, radio or through direct mail, digital marketing costs considerably less and reaches a much wider audience at the same time. Using digital marketing to promote your small business will help you to have a much better chance of business success.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Now that you have an idea of what digital marketing is and how it can further benefit your business, lets jump into the 7 most powerful tools for your business in 2019.</div>

<span style=”text-decoration: underline; font-size: 24pt;”><strong>2.) Constant Contact Email Marketing Software</strong></span>

Chances are you have certain goals in mind for your email marketing. It’s likely too that you want to get even better results from your campaigns – who doesn’t? Well, there are some simple <a class=”js-tracked” href=”https://www.constantcontact.com/email-marketing/email-campaign-ideas” data-om-config=”no_area_name,email marketing “>email marketing tips</a> you can follow to improve the effectiveness of your campaigns right now.<strong> Don’t experiment with the sender field</strong>

A recognizable name in a crowded inbox is a good thing. Keep your sender field consistent and make it easy for your reader to see who the email is from. This is the first thing that readers look at when deciding whether to open your email or not.<strong> Write a killer subject line</strong>

The second thing readers pay attention to is your subject line – so it makes sense to spend time getting it right. Be original. Be enticing. Keep it short and snappy. Speak to your reader’s fears, needs, desires, doubts or ambitions. We’ve got some great tips on email subject lines here:

<strong>Address your reader</strong>

Whether your email is being sent to 5 people or 5,000, write for an audience of one. Build a mental image of your model reader. Be vivid and talk to them directly, just as you would if you were talking to them in person.

<strong>Make it personal</strong>

If you know the name of your reader, use Constant Contact’s email marketing software to automatically include it in your emails. You can also use it in the main message of your email to keep the reader engaged. But don’t overdo it. Jamming your reader’s name into every sentence may sound a bit creepy. The aim is to sound natural.

<strong>Provide value</strong>

Chances are that your reader doesn’t care about that new member of staff you are so keen to announce. What they do want is the answer to a problem. Ultimately, that’s what every reader wants. When you provide value, your emails get read.

<strong>Make it snappy</strong>

The average person’s inbox is something of a battlefield. They want to keep the number of unread emails under control, which isn’t easy when they receive dozens of emails daily. Now, your reader has given you permission to be in their inbox. Honour that by respecting their time and keeping your content snappy. If it takes longer than a minute or two to absorb the message, it might be time for rethink.

<strong>Make the links and call to action obvious</strong>

You want your reader to click through to an article? Then make sure the buttons or hyperlinks standout, and put your main call to action near the top. Don’t expect your reader to do the guesswork.

<strong>Segment your subscriber list</strong>

The more targeted your message, the better you can expect your results to be. That means you need to gather as much information and insight about your subscribers as possible. Let’s say you run a high street fashion store and are offering a half-price weekend in one of your branches. You want your subscribers who live near that branch to know about the offer, but it’s a pretty useless message for anyone that doesn’t live near the store in question. List segmentation lets you target the people that matter, with a message that matters.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline; font-size: 24pt;”><strong>3.) Facebook Lead Generation Ads</strong></span>
<p class=”_3p8″>Lead ads are a type of ad that allows you to run lead generation campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Unlike other ad types, lead ads include a contact form, called an “instant form,” that lets people show their interest in a product or service by filling out the form with their details and allowing a business to follow up with them.</p>
<p class=”_3p8″>On your lead ads instant form, you can request email addresses or contact information from people who click on your ad. You can even ask people custom questions. Lead ads can be used to collect sign-ups for newsletters, price estimates, follow-up calls and business information.</p>

</ul>
Facebook will give you design recommendations to help you get started creating your ads. You’ll be required to link to your company’s privacy policy when creating your ad, so be sure to have that prepared. This policy makes sure that you know you are not allowed to sell customer’s information and informs you on question restrictions.

You will also need a Facebook Fan Page to begin creating lead generation ads. A Facebook Fan Page is different from your personal profile. <a href=”https://sproutsocial.com/insights/facebook-fan-page/”>Learn the difference here.</a>
<h3>Creating an Effective Ad</h3>
An effective Facebook lead generation ad will have these elements:
<ul>
<li>An engaging and <a href=”https://sproutsocial.com/insights/gu//sproutsocial.com/insights/social-media-image-sizes-guide/”>relevant image</a>: 1,200 x 628 pixels</li>
<li>Irresistible headline: 25 characters in length</li>
<li>Text explaining your offer: 90 characters</li>
<li>Description for news feed: 30 characters (make them count)</li>
<li>A clear <a href=”https://sproutsocial.com/insights/call-to-action-phrases/”>call to action</a>: what you want viewers to do</li>
</ul>
<h2><span style=”font-size: 14pt;”>Why Your Facebook Ads Could Fail</span></h2>
Facebook makes running ads a fairly straightforward process and you can always contact customer service if you have questions. Aside from the technical side of ads, there are some broader reasons your ad campaign could fail:
<h3>1. Not Knowing Your Target Audience</h3>
Your ad is destined to fail if you do not know your <a href=”https://sproutsocial.com/insights/your-guide-to-social-media-targeting-via-sprout/”>target audience</a>. If the visuals and text of your ad appeals to women in their 30s, but your products are aimed at men in their 50s, it is just not going to work. You need to know your audience and what they want in order to create an offer that is appealing to them.
<h3>2. Not Having a Strong Offer</h3>
This goes with knowing your audience. If you offer a lengthy PDF in exchange for signups when your audience really only watches video, you are not going to generate the leads you desire. Check your site’s analytics and look over your most popular posts. What type of content is your audience responding to? Create your offer and ad accordingly.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline; font-size: 24pt;”><strong>4.) Google Adwords Retargeting Campaigns</strong></span>
<h2>How Does Google Remarketing Work?</h2>
If you already <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/advertise-on-google”>advertise on Google</a>, all you need to do is add a piece of Google remarketing code, also known as a tag or pixel, to your website so that visitors can get added to your remarketing audiences through browser cookies. You can customize the code for different pages to correspond to more defined categories.

For example, let’s say you operate an e-commerce business that sells kitchen supples. You might create a “toaster” remarketing audience based on people who visit the pages of your site where you sell toasters. That way, you can show these specific visitors highly targeted display ads that market your toasters. You already know they are in-market for toasters, and now you can draw them back, perhaps with a special offer like “free shipping.”

</article></article>
<p class=”text-align-center”><em>The Google Display Network reaches 92% of all Internet users</em></p>
Using remarketing, you can show <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/google-ads”>Google ads</a> to your previous site visitors while they browse the vast number of Google partner sites in the Google Display Network.

Google recommends that when you are starting your first remarketing campaign, you begin by targeting everyone who viewed your homepage. Just remember, that will increase your Google remarketing costs since your ads are being retargeted to more individuals, and you won’t be able to create ads that are quite as targeted. By targeting more narrowly, you can therefore increase ad relevancy and lower your <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/cost-per-click”>cost per click</a>.

Eventually, you can create different Google remarketing lists for super-targeted remarketing campaigns; for example, you can choose to show users who have already purchased from your site different ads from non-buyers (such as an offer for 30% off your second purchase).
<h2>Why Remarket? The Advantages of Google Ad Retargeting</h2>
Google ad retargeting is powerful online marketing technique because it allows you to stay connected with your target audience, even after they leave your site.

By presenting your <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2015/05/14/display-remarketing”>display remarketing</a> banner ads to visitors even as they browse other parts of the web, you are gaining brand exposure and becoming more recognizable to your target audience, raising trust and making them more likely to purchase from you.

Remarketing ads have much higher click-through rates and conversion rates than typical display ads:

<article class=”embedded-entity align-center”><article>
<div><img src=”https://wordstream-files-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/styles/simple_image/public/images/google-remarketing-click-and-conversion-rates.png?YTuwGWG387hZTDFa4QZE7o649bfa.vck&amp;itok=NSKQdyya” alt=”google remarketing click through rates” width=”738″ height=”398″ /></div>
</article></article>
<p class=”text-align-center”><em>Remarketing audiences have 2-3x ad CTR</em></p>
As you can see, previous site visitors will click your ads at 2-3x the rate of new visitors.

Further, <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2015/10/01/remarketing-facts”>the effectiveness of Google remarketing ads</a> only increases with more impressions, and ad fatigue is much lower compared to other display ads:

<article class=”embedded-entity align-center”><article>
<div><img src=”https://wordstream-files-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/styles/simple_image/public/images/remarketing-ad-fatigue-myths.png?oCoFos9iSa..5IonJlz4O2aZweyRUuhR&amp;itok=GZrv_1XI” alt=”remarketing myths” width=”1531″ height=”644″ /></div>
</article></article>You’ll see even <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/category/wordstream-blog-tags/conversion-rates”>be</a><a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/category/wordstream-blog-tags/conversion-rates”>tter conversion rates</a> when you start to combine remarketing campaigns with additional targeting methods, such as targeting by demographics.

However, keep in mind that users have the option of opting out of seeing your <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2015/01/15/retargeting-ads”>retargeting ads</a>by adjusting their settings in accordance with the <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2014/01/22/adchoices”>AdChoices</a> program.
<h2>How Much Does Google Remarketing Cost?</h2>
Your Google remarketing costs will vary depending on how your campaigns fit into your <a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/online-marketing”>online marketing</a> strategy as a whole. However, in general, Google remarketing ads are some of the most cost-effective ad campaigns available to online advertisers.

<article class=”embedded-entity align-center”><article>
<div><img src=”https://wordstream-files-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/styles/simple_image/public/images/cost-of-remarketing-clicks-versus-google-search-clicks.png?QqkRYtu6Ry4R2qS6_uGvgtmpX9WjPdRh&amp;itok=MBG0iPZw” alt=”remarketing clicks vs search clicks” width=”741″ height=”427″ /></div>
</article></article>
<p class=”text-align-center”><em>Remarketing ad costs are very low on a per-click basis</em></p>
Search ads in super-competitive industries can cost several dollars or more per click – and that’s just the average (with some keywords costing more like $50 per click). Display and social remarketing ad clicks by contrast might cost anywhere from 2-100x less.

To keep costs low, use Google remarketing in combination with contextual targeting, conversion filtering, frequency capping, and other cost-saving strategies. This will enable you to create highly targeted remarketing campaigns and increase your ad relevancy, showing most of your ads to the people who are most likely to click and convert.
<h2>Creating Banner Ads for Google AdWords Remarketing</h2>
When you remarket on the Google Display Network, you have the option of creating display ads that incorporate text, images, videos, or rich media. For help making customized Google remarketing banner ads, try using the free <a href=”http://www.google.com/ads/displaynetwork/plan-creative-campaigns/display-ad-builder.html”>Google Display Ad Builder</a>. You can choose from a number of pre-existing templates and then customize them for your business, selecting from a variety of Google remarketing banner sizes and formats.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline; font-size: 24pt;”><strong>5.) Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin</strong></span>

Yoast SEO is one of the most widely popular WordPress plugins around and it’s easy to understand why. Whether you’re running a personal blog or you’re a SEO professional managing a website for a client, Yoast is a powerful tool that can help you make your site as search engine-friendly as possible.

Yoast SEO can be installed on any self-hosted WordPress site. (Sorry, free WordPress.com bloggers.) <span style=”text-decoration: underline; font-size: 24pt;”><strong>6.) Hotjar Website Tracking &amp; Google Tag Manager Software</strong></span>

If you’re interested in tracking website visitors and seeing that data as heat maps, then <a href=”https://www.hotjar.com/”>Hotjar</a> is the right tool for you. In fact, the tool doesn’t only allow you to create heat maps but also lets you view things as scroll depth, create funnels, and ask your visitor questions, and more.
<div class=”content “>
<div class=”text”>
<h2 id=”what-is-hotjar”>So what is Hotjar?</h2>
It’s a very popular analytics and feedback tool used by giants like Unbounce, Invision, Autodesk, Microsoft, and many other top-class tech companies. Main features:
<ul>
<li>Analytics:
<ul>
<li>Record heatmaps (based on clicks, scroll, and mouse movement)</li>
<li>Record actual user sessions, see them on an individual level and see where they clicked, where they bounced, etc.</li>
<li>Track funnels (this feature is based on page views only, but I’ll show you a workaround)</li>
<li>Track form engagement</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Feedback:
<ul>
<li>Collect feedback</li>
<li>Run polls and surveys</li>
<li>Invite visitors to a live user test via screen sharing (e.g. via Skype) to see how they actually use your pages and what they are thinking (a feature called <em>Recruiters</em>).</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
It’s fairly easy to install Hotjar via GTM (if you just want the standard functionality, like recordings and heatmaps). There is even a ready-made tag template available in Google Tag Manager.

Before we start creating a tag, <a href=”https://insights.hotjar.com/register”>sign-up for a Hotjar account</a>. They offer both <a href=”https://www.hotjar.com/pricing”>free and paid plans</a>. After registration is complete, you’ll be asked to add their tracking code to your website.

<img class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-4641″ src=”https://www.analyticsmania.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Hotjar-Tracking-Code.png” alt=”Hotjar Tracking Code” width=”819″ height=”608″ />

You can either create a Custom HTML tag and paste the entire tracking code there or just take the Site ID and use a predefined Tag Template instead. We’ll go with a ready-made Hotjar Tag template (both options serve the same purpose, therefore I don’t see a big difference here which option should you choose).

Anyway, copy Hotjar Site ID (it’s in the bottom right corner of the screenshot).

Log in to your Google Tag Manager account, go to Tags &gt; New. In Tag Configuration, choose <strong>Hotjar Tracking Code </strong>and paste the Site ID you’ve copied before.

In triggering section, choose All Pages.

<img class=”wp-image-4643 aligncenter” src=”https://www.analyticsmania.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Hotjar-Tracking-Code-Tag-in-Google-Tag-Manager.png” alt=”Hotjar Tracking Code Tag in Google Tag Manager” width=”240″ height=”392″ />

Save the tag. Let’s test it, enable <a href=”https://www.analyticsmania.com/post/google-tag-manager-debug-mode/”>Preview and Debug mode</a>, navigate to the website you’re working on and refresh the page. After the Preview and Debug Console appears, click <em>Page View</em> event and check if Hotjar Tag fired.

<img class=”wp-image-4644 aligncenter” src=”https://www.analyticsmania.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/GTM-Preview-and-Debug-Mode-Hotjar-Main-Code.png” alt=”GTM Preview and Debug Mode – Hotjar Main Code” width=”500″ height=”353″ />

Now go to another page of your website and repeat the action. A Hotjar tag must fire on all pages, therefore, you should test it on at least 2-3 pages.

If everything is fine, publish the container, go back to Hotjar and click a green <em>I have installed the tracking code</em> button. Hotjar will then verify the implementation.

That’s it! So far so good, right? That was pretty easy.
